The TV version, in English, of the winning story. “Children died across countries linked to contaminated cough syrup.” Backstory: In 2022, contaminated cough syrups were linked to the deaths of over 300 children across multiple countries, including Indonesia, The Gambia, and Uzbekistan. The syrups contained toxic levels of diethylene glycol (DEG) and ethylene glycol (EG), which are harmful chemicals commonly used in industrial applications and can cause acute kidney failure when ingested.
